Immune boosting turmeric milk – makes 1

Autumn is coming and so are colds and bugs. With the current situation and the constant threat of having to self-isolate, this turmeric milk will be a morning ritual for the whole family for months to come. It’s tasty, warming and comforting now that it’s getting colder and darker.

What you need:

150ml soy- or any unsweetened plant milk – choose a barista option that froths

¼ tsp turmeric

¼ tsp ground dried ginger

A pinch of cinnamon

A pinch of ground cardamom (optional)

A little black pepper – black pepper increases the absorption of turmeric, it doesn’t have to be much, especially if the kids – like mine - aren’t into spicy foods

1 tsp maple syrup – or honey, if you aren’t strictly vegan

How you do it:

Pour the milk in a glass and stir in all the spices.

Pour the mixture into any milk frother (frothing the milk with all the spices already in it makes it extra creamy and delicious), if it isn’t one that heats up the milk at the same time, warm it up in the microwave first.

Stir in the maple syrup, sprinkle with a little extra cinnamon and enjoy.
